The Shri G.S. Institute of Technology and Science (SGSITS) has launched an inaugural Hindi-medium B.Tech course in civil engineering for the current academic session. This significant development aims to bridge the accessibility gap in technical education for students who have completed their schooling in Hindi. Around 20 students have already enrolled in the special batch, which has 30 seats available.
Students admitted to this Hindi-medium civil engineering program are also eligible to receive a ₹2 lakh incentive from the Madhya Pradesh government during their final year. This initiative is a direct implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP), designed to support students who found it challenging to pursue engineering subjects previously taught in English. The institute has been preparing for this course for years, translating materials and training faculty.
Faculty members have diligently translated technical study materials into Hindi over the past four years and conducted workshops to train teachers. Engineering students have expressed that studying in their mother tongue simplifies understanding complex technical concepts. Importantly, the program also integrates essential English language skills training to ensure graduates remain competitive in the professional landscape, balancing mother-tongue education with global career readiness.
