District education officers and additional deputy commissioners are tasked with physically assessing the condition of these school buildings, with their reports due by September 30.
This initiative aims to establish the actual condition of school buildings, moving beyond previous departmental reports. The verification will clarify whether damage is localized or affects the entire structure, a crucial factor in deciding the next steps. Gurgaon district alone has 62 government school buildings previously reported as unsafe.
Decisions regarding these buildings will be made on a case-by-case basis. If a school building is deemed beyond repair, its materials will be auctioned before demolition. However, if a building is structurally sound but requires intervention in specific areas, such as roofs or walls, it will be prioritized for repair instead of demolition.
