Gujarat University Reconstitutes Healthcare Board Amid Controversy

Gujarat University has established a reconstituted Allied and Healthcare Board, dissolving the previous ad hoc panel due to controversy. The Gujarat State Allied and Healthcare Council objected to the initial board's composition, citing a lack of required academic qualifications among its members. This action comes as national-level changes are underway, with the central government creating a separate Allied and Healthcare Commission.

The university's decision to form a fresh board reflects broader shifts in educational frameworks for paramedical and allied healthcare courses. Previously integrated into medical boards, these specializations now require dedicated oversight. The newly formed board features academically qualified representatives, including the dean of the medical faculty and principals from physiotherapy and occupational therapy colleges.

This revised structure ensures that all significant decisions concerning allied and healthcare courses, from syllabus development to results declaration, will be managed by the new board and its committees.
