GMERS Medical College in Gotri has been designated as a central hub for an advanced research program by the State Health System Resource Centre. This initiative seeks to bolster research capabilities among faculty at government medical colleges across Gujarat.
The six-day training, from August 17 to August 22, gathered 20 faculty members. They received structured guidance to develop research proposals for pressing health-system challenges. Topics explored included AI for early breast cancer detection and improving access to Gujarat government financial aid schemes.
Dr. Vishala Pandya, dean at GMERS Medical College, emphasized the program's role in fostering a stronger research ecosystem focused on grassroots healthcare issues. The Gujarat government offers financial support up to Rs 10 lakh for eligible research projects.
The training covers research question formulation, protocol development, study design, data analysis, ethics, and scientific writing. Dr. Parag Chavda highlighted the program's aim to translate healthcare challenges into evidence-based interventions, ultimately improving healthcare delivery.
