On Saturday, June 20, 2026, GITAM Deemed to be University hosted a joint graduation ceremony for its Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GIMSR) and Dental College in Visakhapatnam. A total of 305 students received their degrees across various programs, including MBBS, BDS, MD/MS, and MDS.
The ceremony's chief guest, cardiologist Dr. C.N. Manjunath, stressed the importance of ethics, communication, and affordability in healthcare. He assured attendees that advanced technologies like AI would not replace human healthcare professionals. Dr. Manjunath commended recent government health initiatives.
Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharath advised graduates to focus on rebuilding public trust through dedicated service, acknowledging the role of skilled surgeons and the need to address rising healthcare costs. GITAM Hospital reiterated its commitment to accessible, quality care.
Dr. G. Sambasiva Rao, GIMSR principal, noted that the MBBS graduates were trained under the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) curriculum. Several students also earned prestigious ICMR research grants.
