The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027, organized by IIT Madras, will open its online application portal in mid-August 2026. The examination dates are set for February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21, 2027, with both forenoon and afternoon sessions planned.
A notable change for GATE 2027 is the introduction of a new test paper on Robotics and Automation (RA). Additionally, the existing Textile Engineering and Fibre Science (TF) paper has been restructured into a sectional paper within Engineering Sciences (XE).
The syllabus for the Computer-Based Test (CBT) has been updated to align with evolving academic and industry requirements, marking the first revision in five years. Candidates can choose to take one or two papers, subject to approved combinations.
GATE scores remain valid for three years and are crucial for Master's and Doctoral admissions. They are also used by Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for recruitment. Security measures for online registration now include integration with DigiLocker and facial authentication.
