Rishina Sharma of Alipur village in Baran district has achieved a historic milestone, becoming the first woman from her district to be commissioned as a flying officer in the Indian Air Force's technical branch. Her commissioning occurred on March 7, coinciding with International Women's Day celebrations.
Sharma's aspiration to join the armed forces began in her childhood, inspired by the Republic Day parade. Unable to join the NDA due to gender restrictions at the time, she pursued her dream through the NCC in college. She began preparing for the CDS and AFCAT exams during her undergraduate studies, eventually clearing the SSB written exam and a rigorous five-day interview.
After completing her BTech in Information Science and Engineering in 2022, Sharma worked for two years as a cybersecurity officer. Her training included six months at the Air Force Academy, Hyderabad, and nine months at the Air Force Technical College, Jalahalli. She is now posted in New Delhi as a flying officer, with her family and village celebrating her significant accomplishment.
