Lal Chand Godara, an 85-year-old former soldier, has successfully completed his Master's degree from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). This educational pursuit was reignited when he was 76, inspired by his grandchildren's inquiries, leading him to resume the studies he had left unfinished years ago.
Godara, a resident of Sirsa, Haryana, had previously completed his graduation at the age of 81. His academic endeavors were put on hold when he joined the Army before turning 20. After his military service, he worked as a Yard Master in the Haryana Transport Department until his retirement in 2002.
His desire for learning was deeply ingrained, as he always maintained a diary and found satisfaction in writing. The questions posed by his younger son's children served as a catalyst, rekindling his passion for books. Godara believes his journey demonstrates that the pursuit of knowledge has no age limit and broadens one's perspective.
Having achieved his Master's degree, Godara is now setting his sights on future academic achievements, with aspirations to pursue either a PhD or a law degree, continuing his lifelong commitment to learning.
