Abington AD Mastroianni leaps to Penn State Scranton

Enrico Mastroianni, who has served as Abington Heights High School's athletic director for the past four years, has transitioned to a new leadership role. He will now be the director of athletics and recreation at Penn State Scranton, a move announced recently. Mastroianni expressed pride in his tenure at Abington Heights, highlighting facility improvements and the positive impact on student-athletes beyond wins.

Mastroianni's career includes extensive experience in collegiate athletics before joining Abington Heights. He earned his bachelor's degree from Penn State University. His prior roles involved coaching and program development at various universities, including Marywood University and Centenary College.

During his time at Abington Heights, Mastroianni was instrumental in significant facility renovations, including the installation of turf fields and video scoreboards. He also developed an athletics media internship program. Penn State Scranton anticipates his expertise will provide a strong foundation for their athletic programs.

Mastroianni stated his goal was always to advance into university-level administration. He believes his experience at Abington Heights, which mirrored a small college's athletic department operations, has prepared him for this transition. He aims to foster growth, visibility, and an exceptional environment for student-athletes at Penn State Scranton.
