DU Rolls Out 1-Year Master's Under NEP
5 Jul
Summary
- University of Delhi now offers one-year Master's programs.
- Admissions are for DU students who completed four-year UG programs.
- NEP 2020 implementation is evident with this new initiative.

The University of Delhi has initiated admissions for its one-year postgraduate programs, providing a streamlined path for graduates of its four-year undergraduate degrees under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This marks a significant implementation of NEP 2020 at the university. The admission process, which began on July 5, is open only to Delhi University students who have successfully completed the four-year Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF) 2022.
Admissions to these accelerated Master's programs are merit-based. Candidates must possess a four-year bachelor's degree and meet specific eligibility criteria for their chosen specialization. Registrations are being managed through the university's postgraduate admission portal. This new structure allows students with the requisite credits from a four-year undergraduate program to pursue a one-year Master's, bypassing the traditional two-year postgraduate duration.
In parallel, the university is processing undergraduate admissions via the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS), having received over 148,000 applications, with 62,524 candidates finalizing their preferences by July 11. Nearly 9,500 admissions have been completed for regular two-year PG programs, with the allocation list for performance-based courses due July 9. Additionally, B.Tech admissions have seen a second allocation list, and registrations for the five-year integrated law program are ongoing until July 7.
