The Delhi Directorate of Education has issued a directive to all schools, mandating strict measures against tobacco and substance abuse on campuses. This initiative, aligned with the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan and Nasha Mukt Delhi Campaign, aims to create a safe and healthy environment for students.
As per the new guidelines, schools must establish or strengthen anti-tobacco committees led by principals. These committees will oversee the planning and execution of preventive activities. Regular awareness sessions for students in Classes 6 to 12 will be conducted monthly, focusing on life skills and the dangers of substance abuse.
Furthermore, schools are required to organize awareness programs for teachers and parents at least twice annually. A clear referral system will be in place for students identified with substance abuse issues, ensuring they receive confidential support and professional help. Schools must maintain comprehensive records of all activities and submit monthly compliance reports to district authorities.
