Delhi Schools Beat the Heat: Hydration & Shade Key
27 Apr
Summary
- Schools adopted measures like shifted outdoor activity timings.
- Water bells ring to remind students to stay hydrated.
- Green nets installed, ORS supplies increased in medical rooms.

Schools across Delhi are reinforcing measures to support students facing the current heatwave, following directives from the Directorate of Education (DoE) issued on April 21. These guidelines prompt schools to adjust schedules and enhance student welfare.
Institutions have modified outdoor activity timings and prioritized hydration. Some schools ring a "water bell" to remind students to drink water, while others have extended drinking water facilities to reduce queues. Additionally, schools are encouraging students to wear light, breathable cotton clothing.
Further precautions include installing green nets to provide shade in waiting areas and increasing the availability of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) in medical rooms. Routine checks on air conditioning units and ensuring adequate water arrangements on school buses are also being conducted to ensure student comfort and safety.
