28 Sep
Summary
- Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya relaxed rules for over 1,000 law students.
- Three affiliated colleges closed, impacting LLB and BA LLB programs.
- Students with ATKT can now transfer and continue their studies.
Over 1,000 law students affiliated with Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) will continue their studies without academic loss following rule relaxations. Three DAVV-affiliated colleges, two private and one grant-in-aid, closed in 2025 and 2026, disrupting LLB and BA LLB programs. Many affected students, particularly those with first or second-semester backlogs, faced significant hurdles in transferring to other colleges. More than 40% of these students had ATKT (Allowed To Keep Terms) in at least one subject, which typically prevents advancement to the next academic level. Recognizing the crisis, DAVV has now allowed students with ATKT to transfer to other affiliated colleges. This enables them to progress to the next class and take pending examinations to clear their academic backlogs. The university's intervention aims to protect students' academic careers and reduce the financial and administrative strain they would otherwise face. DAVV's affiliated law college count has reduced from 32 in 2024-25 to 29 following these closures.
