The Andhra Pradesh High Court has refused to grant interim relief concerning Government Order (GO) 102, which permits medical aspirants to submit new web options before each counselling session for MBBS and BDS admissions. This order replaces the prior system where options were submitted once for all rounds.
A Public Interest Litigation was filed challenging GO-102, with the petitioner's counsel arguing that the revised procedure for web options would negatively impact meritorious candidates from reserved categories. However, the standing counsel for Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences argued that these apprehensions were unfounded.
The court, presided over by Chief Justice Lisa Gill and Justice Challa Gunaranjan, observed that there were no sufficient grounds at this stage to halt the GO's implementation. The bench issued notices to the respondents, requiring them to submit their counter-arguments.
Arguments presented suggested that the new system provides greater flexibility, allowing students to choose their preferred colleges more effectively by submitting fresh options before every counselling round, rather than being compelled to select all colleges at once in the earlier system.
