The Commerce High School wind ensemble has achieved a significant milestone by advancing all three of its competition entries to the state level. This rare accomplishment in the Association of Texas Small School Bands Outstanding Performance Series competition reflects extensive preparation and musical talent.
The ensemble secured state qualification in both the marching and concert divisions. Their marching performance, "Mad Major," earned first place in the Class 3A category. In the concert division, "Arabian Dances" also received first place, while "A Walk in the Morning Sun" placed third, with both qualifying for the state round.
The final state adjudication is scheduled for July 16 at the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention in San Antonio. Success at this level places the Commerce High School wind ensemble among the top small-school band programs in Texas, highlighting a strong tradition of musical excellence from students and directors alike.
