Colleges Explore "Stronger Together" Merger

Northampton College and Moulton College are currently exploring the possibility of merging into a single educational institution, a proposal referred to as "Stronger Together." This strategic initiative is designed to significantly enhance the range of courses and academic progression pathways offered to students.

The potential merger involves two institutions that collectively serve 12,000 students aged 16 and over and employ 1,100 staff. Both colleges have received a "Good" rating from Ofsted, indicating a strong existing foundation.

If both college boards approve the plans, the merger could be implemented as early as January 2027. Currently, the proposals are in their preliminary stages, with ongoing consultations planned to gather feedback from students, staff, and the wider community.

Officials have confirmed that due diligence work will proceed over the forthcoming months to thoroughly assess the implications of the merger before any definitive decision is made. Both colleges have assured that their current campuses will remain operational, with no sites being lost.
