A new analysis of national children's health data has ranked all 50 U.S. states based on behavioral disorders and bullying among children. Northern and Midwestern states, particularly Maine, Montana, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Indiana, landed at the top of the rankings. These states showed consistently high numbers in categories such as behavioral disorders and bullying.
Florida was positioned in the middle of the pack, ranking 27th out of 50 states with an overall 'Rudeness Score' of 44.71. While Florida's schools are noted for high performance in some districts, the study indicates that nearly half of vulnerable children surveyed in the state reported experiencing bullying.
The 'Rudeness Score' was developed by Go Au Pair, using data from the National Survey of Children's Health and Children's Health Data. This score combines reported rates of behavioral disorders, bullying enacted by children, and bullying experienced by children with special healthcare needs. The findings underscore the ongoing importance of bullying prevention and behavioral support in schools and communities nationwide as the back-to-school season approaches.
