- Pondicherry University launched a lecture series on life sciences.
- Vice Chancellor discussed the Blood Brain Barrier's protective role.
- Lifestyle choices significantly impact brain health and disorder prevention.

Pondicherry University's School of Life Science commenced its 'Perspectives in Life Sciences' lecture series. The inaugural address was delivered by Vice Chancellor Prakash Babu on 'Guardian of the Brain: Brain Barrier Integrity, Neurological Disorders and the path to Neuroprotection'.
Babu elaborated on the vital role of the Blood Brain Barrier (BBB), describing it as a highly selective shield. This biological barrier facilitates nutrient transport while protecting the central nervous system from systemic toxins and inflammatory triggers, thereby maintaining homeostasis and regulating peripheral signaling.
The lecture stressed that adopting proactive lifestyle choices is essential for safeguarding BBB integrity. Such choices form a primary defense against severe neurological conditions, including stroke, ischemia, and paralysis, according to a university release.
