Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi has called upon researchers to prioritize the incubation of scientific discoveries into marketable products. He emphasized that research achieves its highest value when it generates tangible, long-term societal benefits. Speaking at a three-day international conference on Animal Biology, Prof. Chaturvedi highlighted the critical role of such events in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.
He urged faculty and researchers to consider the market applicability of their work, noting the presence of a vibrant incubation center at BHU. Prof. Sumit Homechaudhuri, president of the Zoological Society of Kolkata, also stressed the importance of academic partnership and innovation in zoology.
Dean of Science Prof. Rajesh Kumar Shrivastava pointed out the enhanced stature of basic sciences at BHU, with its life sciences departments now ranking among the top in India and Asia. The conference serves as a platform for scientists and students to discuss emerging challenges and opportunities in animal biology.
