Summary
- Two Beverly Hills High School seniors recognized as National Merit Scholarship semifinalists
- Represent less than 1% of all graduating seniors nationwide
- Exemplify academic excellence fostered throughout Beverly Hills schools

In a testament to the academic excellence fostered within the Beverly Hills Unified School District, two seniors from Beverly Hills High School have been recognized as National Merit Scholarship semifinalists in the class of 2026. Ezra Albert and Xander Matcuk were honored at the September BHUSD Board of Education meeting, where they received official certificates of recognition from district leaders and the principal.
This prestigious distinction places Albert and Matcuk among the top high school scholars nationwide, representing less than 1% of all graduating seniors across the country. Their academic journeys reflect the commitment to academic achievement and college readiness that is a hallmark of the Beverly Hills school system, as they progressed from Horace Mann Elementary to Beverly Vista Middle School and ultimately excelled at Beverly Hills High School.
"We are incredibly proud of Ezra and Xander for earning this national distinction," said Dr. Dustin Seemann, assistant superintendent of education services. "Their hard work, intellectual curiosity and perseverance represent the very best of BHUSD students."
