On November 11, 2025, government schools in Bengaluru hosted a special parent-teacher meeting (PTM) drive to boost enrollment, which has been sharply declining in recent years. The schools went all out to create a festive atmosphere, with colorful decorations, rangolis, and even a makeshift selfie booth.
During the PTM, teachers highlighted the facilities and resources available at the schools. Parents were then taken to classrooms to discuss their children's academic performance. While PTMs are an annual affair in government schools, this one was different. The education department had announced the mega PTM drive, asking schools to ensure a large turnout of parents.
To encourage participation, the schools provided refreshments like pulav, egg, banana, and payasa. They also live-streamed the children's day program held at the Vidhan Soudha. Teachers even contributed from their own pockets to make the event a success.
The initiative aimed to showcase the advantages of enrolling in government schools and address the sharp decline in enrollment. While some parents had to take a day off work to attend, the schools managed to have at least 50% of the parents participate in the event.
