18 Dec
Summary
- Schools up to Class 8 closed from December 18-20 due to severe cold.
- Tuesday, December 16, was the coldest day in Bareilly in a decade.
- An orange alert for dense fog has been issued for the next three days.

The Bareilly district administration has ordered the closure of all government, aided, and private schools from Classes 1 to 8 for three days, from December 18th to December 20th. This decision comes in response to a relentless cold wave and dense fog that have significantly disrupted daily life in the region over the past few days.
This severe weather condition intensified on Tuesday, December 16th, which recorded the coldest day in Bareilly in the last ten years, with the maximum temperature plummeting to 16.3 degrees Celsius. The meteorological department has since issued an orange alert for dense fog, anticipating its continuation for the next three days.
In light of these conditions, officials have warned of strict action against any school found violating the closure order, though examinations already scheduled may proceed. The administration is urging residents to avoid non-essential travel and to take extra precautions for children and the elderly, as no immediate respite from the cold spell is expected.
