A young bagpiper has transformed a negative experience into a significant financial boost for his school's pipe band. The 12-year-old boy was busking in Edinburgh when a group allegedly vandalized his instrument case and kilt with a sticky substance.
Initially seeking funds for cleaning and repairs, his crowdfunding campaign unexpectedly garnered over £19,000 from more than a thousand donors. He chose to donate the entire sum to the Preston Lodge pipe band, of which he is a member.
The generous donation will enable the registered charity band to purchase much-needed equipment, including a pair of drums costing £9,000, and cover essential running costs such as instrument maintenance and travel. This significant contribution ensures that financial barriers do not prevent young members from participating in band activities and competitions.
