NEU Secures Concessions, Pauses Aylesford School Strikes
8 Jun
Summary
- Strike action at Aylesford School was partly suspended.
- The NEU secured concessions from the employer after negotiations.
- Future strike dates remain under consideration pending resolution.

Strike action at Aylesford School in Warwick has seen partial suspension after the National Education Union (NEU) reported securing concessions from the employer. Over 40 staff members had participated in a picket line, supported by parents, protesting a rushed restructure they feared would lead to mass redundancies.
Following negotiations on Friday, the NEU announced that the school had agreed to a resolution action plan. Consequently, strike dates scheduled for the upcoming Tuesday and Thursday have been suspended. Despite this progress, members have opted to maintain three days of planned action for next week.
The NEU indicated that the decision to keep future action on the table is linked to an outstanding staffing matter. Nevertheless, the agreement reportedly includes provisions for workload reduction and a commitment to recognize the NEU. The dispute originated from staff's claims of inadequate consultation on the restructure involving redundancies.
