Zookeeper Dies After Leopard Attack at Dutch Safari Park
28 Oct
Summary
- A dedicated zookeeper died from severe head and neck wounds.
- The attack occurred in an enclosure with two male Persian leopards.
- An investigation is underway into why the keeper was in the enclosure.

A zookeeper, who dedicated nearly 40 years of her life to the Beekse Bergen Safari Park in the Netherlands, has tragically died after a leopard attack. The incident occurred on Saturday when the woman, whose name remains private, suffered severe wounds to her head and neck within an enclosure housing two male Persian leopards.
She was able to alert colleagues via walkie-talkie, prompting an immediate emergency response. Despite emergency surgery, her condition worsened, and she passed away on Tuesday. The park stated her death deeply affects everyone, and they extend sympathy to her loved ones.
An investigation has been launched to understand why the zookeeper was in the enclosure with the predatory animals, as such proximity is against standard zoo protocols. This incident follows a similar mauling death of a man by a tiger in England a few weeks prior.
