A man was seriously injured on Friday after being violently tossed nearly eight feet into the air by a charging bison in Yellowstone National Park. The incident unfolded at the Bridge Bay Campground while the victim and his grandson were on an evening walk. An eyewitness, photographer Mike MacLeod, captured the attack on video. He described the bull bison as unusually aggressive, having already charged multiple people and a vehicle before targeting the two pedestrians. The bull bison struck the man with a horn, launching him airborne before he landed heavily. While the grandson escaped unharmed, the injured man complained of severe hip and leg pain. Bystanders, including MacLeod, managed to drive the bison away by shouting, fearing it would further harm the downed man. Emergency responders arrived and transported the injured man for medical treatment. His condition was later reported as serious with significant injuries. This unfortunate event occurred during Yellowstone's annual bison mating season, known as the rut, which runs from June to September, a time when male bison become more territorial. This is the second reported bison-related visitor injury at Yellowstone this year, with a child being injured in June near the Mud Volcano area.
