- She reportedly jumped from the cruise ship wanting to disembark.
- A cargo ship spotted her, leading to a Coast Guard rescue.

A woman has been rescued after spending 20 hours in the Ionian Sea, clinging to a lifebuoy. The 44-year-old Salvadoran national was a passenger on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Odyssey of the Seas. She reportedly told authorities that she jumped from the vessel near Zakynthos because she "wanted to disembark."
The cargo ship MSC Rossella III spotted the woman in the water and alerted the Hellenic Coast Guard. Rescuers arrived and successfully pulled her to safety. Following her ordeal, she was transported to the port of Katakolo and taken to a local hospital.
A prosecutor has ordered a psychiatric evaluation for the woman. This incident is reminiscent of a similar event last year where a passenger jumped from another Royal Caribbean ship to evade gambling debts.
