27 May
Summary
- A woman died after being thrown from her horse by a speeding motorcycle.
- The horse rider died from multiple traumatic injuries on July 9, 2023.
- Speed was a significant factor in the fatal incident, coroner stated.

A woman, Jayne Hunt, 55, tragically died on July 9, 2023, after being "violently dismounted" from her horse. The incident occurred in Bollands Hill near Seend when a motorcycle skidded at speed around a blind bend.
The horse, Moomin, became distressed by the sudden sight and sound of the riderless motorcycle and dismounted rider. This caused Moomin to bolt, throwing Ms. Hunt into a grass dyke.
Senior coroner for Wiltshire and Swindon, David Ridley, stated that the motorcycle was traveling between 45mph and 61mph in a 60mph zone. He identified speed as a significant factor, noting the motorcyclist applied brakes heavily, locking the front wheel.
Ms. Hunt, an equine podiatrist, was described as highly respected in the horse world and familiar with the riding route. Her family stated she was much loved and will be deeply missed.
