A wildfire at Hednesford Hills, near Cannock, led to the arrest of two boys on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. Emergency services responded to the incident on Sunday afternoon, with eleven fire crews working to control the blaze that damaged more than three acres of land. The two boys, aged 12 and 13 and both from Cannock, were taken into custody and remained there on Monday.
This incident follows a series of fires across the Midlands, exacerbated by prolonged dry weather. Fire group manager Jordan Money emphasized the serious consequences of such acts, stating that they damage land, endanger lives, and strain emergency resources. He appealed to parents to educate their children about the dangers of setting fires, stressing it is not a trivial matter. Investigations with Staffordshire Police are ongoing to determine responsibility.
