Disruption is expected all day Wednesday on West Midlands rail services following a fallen tree incident. Train operators including Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, London Northwestern Railway, and West Midlands Railway have issued warnings about potential diversions and advised passengers on using alternative services. Rail replacement shuttles are currently operating between Stafford, Penkridge, and Wolverhampton to mitigate the impact.
Passengers traveling southbound are advised to change at Crewe for onward services to Stafford, where replacement buses will then proceed to Penkridge and Wolverhampton. Northbound travelers should utilize West Midlands Railway services between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton, with replacement buses departing every 30 minutes. Network Rail confirmed the line's closure for morning services due to the damaged wires and stranded train.
