Waukesha Floods, Muskego Tornado: Storms Leave Lingering Scars
21 Apr
Summary
- Flooding closed streets and parks in Waukesha after severe storms.
- A minimal-damage tornado touched down in Muskego, causing fear.
- Muskego seeks dry weather to reinforce defenses after recent flooding.

Following a week of severe weather, Waukesha faced significant flooding that submerged streets and closed parks, with crews still assessing the damage by April 20. Though floodwaters receded enough for most roads to reopen, Grede Park, Bethesda Park, and various river trail boardwalks remained closed. Waukesha also experienced tornado warnings between April 14 and April 17, though no rotation was detected by weather radar.
In Muskego, an EF0 tornado on April 17 caused minimal damage, thankfully touching down in sparsely populated areas and heading towards a nature preserve. Mayor Rick Petfalski expressed relief over the limited impact but voiced ongoing concerns about flooding, particularly given the city's low-lying position and the recent August 2025 historic flood event. Muskego has secured additional sewer capacity with a pumped-out 2 million-gallon holding tank, offering some buffer against further rain.
