A tragic incident occurred during the Cumming Christmas parade when a volunteer directing traffic was fatally struck by a vehicle on Saturday night. The victim, identified as Rob Muth, was stationed at the intersection of Castleberry Road and Buford Dam Road. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by fellow volunteers and deputies, Muth passed away surrounded by family on Sunday morning at North Fulton Hospital.
Muth was a respected figure, having served 21 years as a sergeant with the Boca Raton Police Department before his retirement. He continued his service as a volunteer with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, contributing to various divisions including Judicial Operations, Citizens Helping in Policing (CHIPs), and Criminal Investigations since January 2022.
