A tourist excursion tragically turned fatal when a speedboat carrying Indian nationals capsized near Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam on Saturday. The vessel, which was carrying 36 individuals including four crew members, overturned approximately 400 meters off Hon May Rut Ngoai. Vietnamese media reported that severe sea conditions were prevalent at the time, causing the boat to capsize and all occupants to fall into the water.
Immediate search and rescue operations were initiated by authorities, who continue their efforts to find survivors and account for those still missing. While the exact cause of the accident remains under investigation by Vietnamese authorities, rough seas are suspected. The Indian Embassy in Hanoi has established dedicated control rooms in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to offer assistance and information to the families of those affected. Emergency helpline numbers have been provided for this purpose, and the embassy has released a list of 32 Indian tourists who were on board.
