A tragic incident off the coast of Vietnam's Phu Quoc Island claimed the lives of 15 Indian tourists on Saturday afternoon. The group, consisting of 32 passengers, was on an island-hopping tour when their speedboat capsized in rough seas. The accident occurred approximately 400 meters from Hon May Rut Ngoai while en route to An Thoi Port.
Tragedy struck families from southern India, with 10 deceased individuals identified from Tamil Nadu, three from Andhra Pradesh, and two from Kerala. State governments immediately mobilized resources to assist survivors and support the families of the victims. Efforts are underway to repatriate the mortal remains of those who perished.
Initial rescue operations were complicated by the treacherous sea conditions, which made it difficult for rescuers to reach trapped passengers. However, with the deployment of additional vessels and personnel, all 32 passengers were accounted for. Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing, with the speedboat operator reportedly having extensive experience on the route.
