Victor Cleans Up After Devastating Storm Hits

Residents of Victor and surrounding Finger Lakes communities began extensive cleanup operations on Monday after a powerful storm swept through on Saturday afternoon. The severe weather event caused widespread damage, including downed trees, limbs, and damaged homes.

In Victor, the storm's impact was significant, with debris piling up in neighborhoods north of East Main Street. Village officials estimate that cleanup will not be fully completed until Friday at the earliest, with public works crews dedicating their efforts solely to debris removal this week.

Power was not restored to many residents until early Sunday evening. While Canandaigua also experienced damage, city officials noted that their municipality fared better in comparison to Victor. The storm's erratic nature was evident, with some areas of Victor untouched while others suffered substantial damage.

Amidst the recovery, a forecast for more severe thunderstorms on Tuesday, potentially bringing damaging winds and isolated tornadoes, adds to the community's concerns. Neighbors have been supporting each other through the cleanup, with volunteer groups also assisting in clearing fallen branches and limbs.
