A fire incident occurred at a landfill site managed by Vellore Corporation, located near Otteri lake. The blaze began around 5 a.m. when residents nearby complained about severe eye irritation caused by dense smoke emanating from the open dump yard. This area is known for storing and recycling plastic waste.
Upon receiving an alert, law enforcement and firefighters were dispatched to the location. They discovered a group of individuals consuming alcohol and deliberately setting fire to the accumulated garbage. The suspects absconded when they noticed the police presence. It took firefighters over two hours to extinguish the flames.
In response to this incident, the police have enhanced surveillance measures, particularly in isolated areas, to prevent the recurrence of such accidents. Investigations into the matter are currently in progress.
