A tragic accident in Varanasi on Tuesday morning resulted in the death of 16-year-old Roshni, a Class 9 student. She was hit by a dumper truck near her home in Barthara Kala village while on her way to Shri Kachcha Baba Inter College. The collision proved fatal, with Roshni passing away at the scene.
Following the incident, local villagers reacted with anger, stopping the dumper truck, capturing the driver, and allegedly assaulting him before he was handed over to the police. Protesters then carried Roshni's body to Jalhupur market and later to the front of her school, blocking vehicular traffic.
Their demonstration intensified as they demanded to meet the District Magistrate. Police officials attempted to negotiate and pacify the crowd, but the protesters remained resolute. An FIR has been registered, and the dumper truck and its driver are in police custody as investigations proceed.
