The Varanasi district administration has initiated comprehensive flood preparedness measures in anticipation of rising water levels in the Ganga and Varuna rivers. Sixty-one flood relief camps have been established across the district, equipped to provide shelter, nutritious meals, drinking water, sanitation, and other essential amenities to displaced families.
Multidepartmental teams, including Revenue, Medical, and Animal Husbandry, are stationed at relief camps to offer immediate on-site services. Special attention is given to livestock safety, with provisions for their care and relocation. A round-the-clock flood control room and 21 local flood posts are actively monitoring the situation and coordinating rescue efforts.
For swift relief and rescue operations, 198 boats have been arranged, alongside specialized teams from the NDRF, Water Police, and PAC. Medical teams are prepared to handle potential health challenges, emphasizing clean water and sanitation to prevent waterborne diseases.
The administration urges the public to follow safety guidelines and report any emergencies promptly to the flood control room or local officials, assuring full preparedness for flood management.
