The National Weather Service had issued a tornado warning that was slated to remain in effect until 8:45 p.m. CDT. By 8:21 p.m. CDT, a confirmed large and destructive tornado was observed in the vicinity of Vance Air Force Base, progressing eastward at a speed of about 20 mph.
