The district administrations reported that 136 individuals are stranded in Uttarkashi, involved in expeditions to peaks like Mt Sudarshan and Mt Bhagirathi-II, or are at base camps for Kalindi Pass and Auden's Col. In Bageshwar, 43 trekkers are held at safe points near the Pindari glacier and Khathi village. Officials are coordinating helicopter arrangements and maintaining communication with the stranded groups, monitoring their well-being and needs.
This rescue effort is occurring concurrently with widespread rainfall across Uttarakhand, which began Saturday night and has led to over 80 road blockages. Disruptions include the Badrinath highway being impassable due to landslides. All evacuated trekkers will undergo mandatory medical screening, with medical facilities placed on alert.
