Continuous rainfall in Uttarakhand has caused widespread disruption, prompting restoration work on damaged infrastructure. The retaining wall on the Dehradun-Mussoorie Road near Paniwala Band, previously damaged, has undergone complete restoration. Following these repairs, the road has been reopened for smaller vehicles, though heavy vehicle movement remains suspended.
The persistent heavy rainfall has also led to the overflow of the Tamasa River, submerging parts of the historic Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple. Water levels have risen significantly in several rivers across Dehradun, including the Tamsa, Tons, and Asan rivers, with some areas recording over 200 mm of rainfall.
Authorities are actively managing the situation, issuing public announcements to alert residents about the prevailing conditions. Citizens are strongly advised to avoid riverbanks and refrain from engaging in risky activities. Pilgrims undertaking the Char Dham Yatra are also urged to adhere to safety instructions and remain in designated safe areas when movement is restricted due to weather or damaged infrastructure. The administration has made arrangements to assist pilgrims in case of travel halts.
