Uttar Pradesh Police Deploys Specialized Teams to Tackle Road Accidents

As of November 5th, 2025, the Uttar Pradesh police have taken a decisive step to address the rising number of road accidents in the state. Through data analysis, they have identified 233 police station areas across 20 districts that collectively account for nearly 80% of such incidents.

To tackle this critical issue, the director general of police, Rajeev Krishna, has directed the deployment of specialized teams focused on road accident investigation and prevention in these high-risk zones. Each team will comprise one sub-inspector and four constables, specifically trained to handle accident-related cases.

These teams will operate across 89 critical corridors and 3,233 accident-prone points identified through the data analysis. Their responsibilities will include monitoring, scientific investigation of accidents, and submission of reports to the District Road Safety Committees. This will inform necessary infrastructure and engineering improvements to make Uttar Pradesh's roads safer.

The DGP has described this initiative as a data-driven and sustainable road safety model, aimed at reducing both accidents and fatalities in the long term. Circle officers and additional superintendents of police (traffic) will be responsible for ensuring corrective measures based on the teams' findings. Officials believe this focused and data-led approach will not only help reduce fatalities but also lay the foundation for a state-wide road safety strategy.
