Engine Fire Forces LAX Flight to Emergency Land

United Airlines Flight 2127, en route from Los Angeles to Newark Liberty International Airport, initiated an emergency landing shortly after takeoff on Monday due to a left engine issue. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the aircraft turned back approximately one hour into its journey. Video footage captured smoke emanating from one of the engines while firefighters attended to it.
Upon safely returning to Los Angeles, all 256 passengers and 12 crew members deplaned the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner via slides and airstairs. United Airlines stated that no one on board was injured. The airline has since arranged for a replacement aircraft to ensure the passengers could continue to their destination. The incident is currently under investigation by the FAA.
