UK Urges Registration for New Online Flood Action Hub
12 Oct
Summary
- New online hub offers flood threat evaluation and guidance.
- UK aims for national resilience with £4.2 billion defense investment.
- Flood Action Week promotes public preparedness and official warnings.

A new online portal, 'Flood Action Online,' has been established, encouraging the public to register for official flood alerts and access practical guidance. This comprehensive resource allows residents to assess their property's flood risk and implement protective measures.
It also provides direct access to Met Office weather warnings during active incidents. The government is increasing national resilience in anticipation of extreme weather this autumn and winter, with a dedicated taskforce evaluating preparedness.
Floods minister Emma Hardy stated that £4.2 billion is being invested in flood defenses. The Environment Agency's annual Flood Action Week campaign is also underway to encourage public preparation and understanding of flood risks.
However, Shadow environment secretary Victoria Atkins criticized the new website, arguing for urgent physical and natural defenses and better river maintenance by the Environment Agency.
