A youth has died and his companion was injured following a late-night car accident in Udaipur. The vehicle reportedly lost control while navigating a turn near Hanumanji Temple in Khelgaon, ultimately plunging into a 12-feet-deep pit.
The deceased, Himanshu Salvi, a local salon owner, was pronounced dead at the scene. His injured friend, Rahul Singh, was admitted to GBH Hospital for treatment. This incident is particularly concerning as it is the second fatality at this exact spot within the last fortnight.
Local residents have expressed significant distress, stating they have repeatedly petitioned the Udaipur Development Authority (UDA) to install barricades and warning signs. They highlighted that while locals are aware of the danger, the unmarked turn poses a severe risk to unfamiliar drivers, especially after dark.
Authorities are investigating the accident, with initial reports suggesting the car was traveling at high speed. The driver's neck reportedly struck the car door upon impact. The body was subsequently moved to the MB Hospital mortuary.
