Tragedy struck during a hunting trip when a fire claimed the lives of two University of Alabama students. The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 1, at approximately 1:30 a.m. local time in Evergreen, Alabama.
Four individuals were present in the residence at the time of the blaze. Two were able to escape the fire and were transported for medical attention due to their injuries. Tragically, the other two occupants were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The victims, identified as James Hensley II, 19, and Mark Mostellar, 21, were business majors and members of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity at the University of Alabama. Both were from Mobile.
The Conecuh County Coroner's Office, Evergreen Police Department, and the Alabama State Fire Marshal's Office are jointly investigating the cause and origin of the fire. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
