Two young men lost their lives late Monday evening in a devastating accident near Jaitipur village, under the Ghatampur police station area in Kanpur. The deceased were identified as Arun, 21, son of Ramdas, and Ankit, 18, son of Dharmendra, both residents of Jaitipur village.
According to police reports, Arun and Ankit were returning to their village on a borrowed motorcycle after getting their 'lahi' crop processed. They were also carrying oil at the time of the incident. The collision occurred as their bike impacted the back of the tractor-trolley near a culvert.
Both individuals sustained critical injuries due to the high-speed impact. Villagers promptly transported them to the Community Health Center (CHC), where medical personnel pronounced them dead. The bike riders were not wearing helmets at the time of the accident. The tractor-trolley has been impounded, and the bodies are being sent for postmortem examination.
It was revealed that both deceased worked as helpers in trucks and occasionally did labor work at brick kilns. The motorcycle they were riding was borrowed from a brick kiln owner. Ankit had reportedly arrived in Jaitpur from a truck to visit his aunt's home.
