Two pilgrims from Rajasthan were killed and 36 others injured in a severe head-on collision on the Mathura-Bareilly National Highway. The accident involved a Rajasthan Roadways bus and an Uttar Pradesh Roadways bus near the district magistrate's office in Soron Kotwali.
Most passengers were en route to Soron Shukar Kshetra for a holy dip in the Ganga. The deceased, identified as Girraj (80) and Pritam (65), died at the scene. Emergency services and locals initiated a rescue operation, transferring the injured to local health centers and the district hospital. Two passengers with serious injuries were airlifted to Aligarh for specialized treatment.
Initial reports suggest the driver of the Rajasthan-bound bus may have dozed off, leading to the collision. A thorough investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause. The highway experienced temporary disruptions following the incident, which have since been resolved. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination.
