Texas Town Buzzes as Two Million Bees Escape Truck

On June 21, a significant bee escape occurred in Orange County, Texas, when a semitrailer carrying approximately two million honey bees overturned. The incident resulted in a large number of bees being released into a residential neighborhood near the Louisiana state border. Emergency officials advised residents to remain indoors while crews worked to manage the situation and transfer the remaining hives.

Beekeeping businesses in the area, including Queen Bee Supply LLC, were on site to assist with the recovery efforts. Photos showed beekeepers in protective gear collecting bees that had clustered on trees and fences. Some swarms were reportedly large enough to cause branches to break. The goal was to safely collect and relocate the bees to a local honey farm as quickly as possible.
