Two young men, aged 19 and 20, have tragically died in Snowdonia. Their bodies were located and recovered by emergency services following an extensive mountain search operation.
Concerns for the pair were raised with North Wales police on Wednesday, February 18. The following day, a significant search effort commenced in the Eryri mountain range, including Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa).
The operation involved Llanberis and Aberglaslyn mountain rescue teams, along with RAF mountain rescuers, search dogs, and a coastguard helicopter. Volunteers worked through the night in challenging winter conditions, battling snow and ice across difficult terrain.
Despite the dedicated and prolonged efforts of all involved, the search concluded with the recovery of the two men. Police confirmed their formal identification and that their families have been notified, with the coroner also informed.
